Long Sight (Hyperopia)

In a resting hyperopic eye the light is focused behind the retina so the image is blurred. However in young eyes the lens compensates easily and so a letter chart test alone may miss the diagnosis of hyperopia.

Special tests may have to be used to determine the extent of the problem. Longsighted children often have problems reading and concentrating.
